Christmas around the world

Welcome to the last challenge of the year with the design team on CCEE Stampers blog.

Hostess Lynn would like for all those who are taking part in this challenge to select a country or culture other than their own and feature on the front of their cards a unique element or tradition from that country or culture's holiday celebrations!

I grew up with this tradition, we had these cute little boots that we put out each year, we didn't have a fireplace so the boots were just left outside our bedroom door. As a child it was just something that we did, I didn't realize that it was something my parents grew up with also until I googled the meaning of St Nicholas day. I thought I would share with you some of the meanings that I found.

What is St. Nicholas Day?

St. Nicholas derived from Nicholas of Myra and was a bishop in 4th century Greece. He was known for selling off his own items and then giving the money to the poor. He would commonly leave coins in people’s shoes and dedicated his entire life to serving people who were sick and suffering. This is how he gained his saint status, and is what inspired St. Nicholas Day (also commonly known as Feast Day or the Feast of St. Nicholas).

St. Nicholas Day is celebrated on December 6th every year. This date was chosen to commemorate the day of St. Nicholas’s death and to celebrate his life and generous spirit.

Typically celebrated by leaving small surprise gifts in shoes or stockings, the day is meant to honor the generous spirit of Saint Nicholas, the historical inspiration for our contemporary version of Santa Claus!

Because Nicholas of Myra was a saint in the Catholic church, St. Nicholas Day is primarily a Christian holiday. It is especially popular among European Catholic and German Lutheran populations.

As time passed St. Nicholas Day began in different ways. In Italy, this day was celebrated with feasts, gift-giving, and festivals. In other European countries like Germany and the Netherlands, children would leave their shoes or special St. Nicholas boot in front of the fireplace or front door at night and find presents in them in the morning. The history of St. Nicholas and his good deeds was part of the inspiration of the modern-day Santa Claus and Father Christmas, which is why there are some current traditions of leaving gifts in people’s boots or shoes (or stockings)

I made the front of the using stamps and inside I made a pop up using Karen Burniston's Flower Pivot Panels and decorated it with the stocking charms.

Supplies
My Favorite Things stamps - Secret Santa, Cozy Companions
Mama Elephant sentiment - Best Gift Ever
Karen Burniston dies - 1143 holiday charms, 1160 Flower Pivot Panels, 1152 Long Nature Edges.

Thank you for stamping with the design team throughout 2021!  Remember New CCEE Stampers Challenges will begin again on January 6, 2022.

So many reasons

 Good Morning Crafting Friends.

I thought I would share the card I made for my daughter's birthday.

I recently picked up this Sizzix die set on sale and I liked the idea of the thin frames to showcase the sentiment verse that came out of a designer paper pack. I made the flowers and leaves with some coordinating card stock and papers.

For the inside of the card I have used Karen Burniston 1122 Paper Frames Pop up die set.

Snowman Sketch

My card today is made for the last C4C challenge for 2021.

As always we look back to the past year of sketches, I chose the sketch from June C4C589.

I have used Karen Burniston 1017 - Snowman and 1067 - Celebrate for the front of the card, I also used washi tape for the stripes. Inside the card I added another snowman and some falling snow made from the pieces that fell out of the face die.

Christmas Lights

This week on CCEE Stampers blog we have been asked to share a family Christmas Traditions.

Lynn says if your family is like mine, there are certain family traditions that show up at each of your Christmas celebrations together. I am challenging each of the CCEE Stampers and their fans to create a holiday card which depicts on the front of his/her design a favorite or an unusual Christmas tradition shared by family members each and every year.

I don't think ours is that unusual and I guess it is not something that we have done regularly since the girls have grown, but having one with a December birthday her request was always to go out and see the Christmas lights around the neighbor hood.

I remember one year especially when one street really got into the spirit and they closed the street so you had to go out and walk to see the lights. One house had a live Santa Claus that you could go and see and ask for your Christmas wish. This was a special Santa as he knew my Daughter's name and that it was her birthday, the look on the then 5 year old face was priceless. ( I only found out the next day that he was really one of the dads at her pre-school)

I had this designer paper pack in my supplies and I really liked this sentiment. I added a Christmas tree to the front along with some gem stones.

On the inside I have used Karen Burniston's Christmas trees pop stand. I have also added a large oval as a tree skirt and some border blend party dies, gem stones and dot stickers.

Christmas Foliage

The week for our challenge on the Crazy4Challenge Blog we are using flowers.

One of the ways people decorate for Christmas is with flowers and/or foliage … the most popular being Poinsettias; Holly; Ivy and Mistletoe. For our challenge this week create a card using something flower or foliage related.

I created the background for my card using the concord & 9th Holly Berry turnabout stamp set with various inks.

I heat embossed the sentiments and attached the store bought flowers from my stash.

On the 1st day of Christmas

This my card for the first December card challenge with the team on the CCEE Stampers blog.

Music plays a huge part in the celebration of the Christmas holidays for many, many people. We hear holiday music played in churches, piped to us in stores, coming through our radios, and featured on holiday specials on T.V. throughout the month of December.

For today's challenge, "Celebrate with Song," Lynn is asking that the CCEE Stampers use song lyrics from a holiday song (either secular or religious) as the sentiment on the front of a Christmas design.

I had this DCWV 12 days of Christmas designer paper pack in my stash that I had purchased some time throughout the year. It has some artist trading card size pieces the coordinated with the designers paper., that I wanted to show case.

So I have made and interactive card using Karen Burniston's Rocking Rectangle Pop-up.

I made the card with an acetate front window to show off the panel in side and the movement that happens when the card opens.

Go for a ride

Today is the week 4 challenge on the Crazy4Challenges blog.

Last Monday was Go For A Ride Day. For our challenge this week, create a card that features something you might ride on … car, bus, bike, truck, horse etc.

The main focal stamp is a old rubber wood mounted die from long ago. It matches perfectly with the designer paper background. I added the several layers of the die cut sentiment.

Home sweet home

It is challenge time with the crazies on the Crazy4challenges blog. This month we have been challenged by Frances.

Manatee Awareness Month

                                                                 Hi Crafting Friends

Today's card is made for the challenge on the CCEE Stampers blog.

                                                Celebrate Manatee Awareness Month

I had this background die for some time, thinking one day I would use it for a shaker card. Things didn't go to plan and I ran out of time, so I have just used several layers to add dimension on the background and glued in some pearls beads, before adding the sentiment and attaching the Manatee.

Christmas Lantern

                                                                   Hi Crafting Friends

It is time for the last challenge of the month with the team on Crazy4Challenges.

Let’s add some texture with a dimensional liquid or paste element on your card. Some examples are texture, crackle, molding or embossing paste, glass bead gel, Liquid Pearls, Nuvo Mousse, Nuvo drops, Crystal Glaze or Glossy Accents (used dimensionally rather than as a glue).

I created the back ground using the brick stencil and sponging on various inks, while the stencil was in place I added transparent matte texture paste in certain places for a distressed wall.

While it was drying I assembled the die cut elements. Once the background was dry I added the die cut elements to make a scene.

Supplies
Lawn Fawn Stencil - Brick
Distress Oxide inks - dried marigold, brushed corduroy, festive berries
Ranger - transparent matte texture paste
Karen Burniston - 1171 Street Lantern Pop-up, 1165 Tiny Gnomes, 1178 Long Nature Edges
Elizabeth Craft Designs - sentiment ( retired)

Winter blizzard

This is my card for the CCEE Stampers blog challenge - CCEE2143.

Create a Scene! For our challenge this week create a card that features a scene of some type… outside or inside.

I have used the Hero Arts 6 x 6 background stamp for my scene. I rather thought that just stamping the scene was way to easy for this challenge so I created a shaker card with an acetate front and glitter for the snowy winter scene.

Parisian Dreams

Welcome to another challenge week with crazies team on Crazy4Challenges.

This week use vellum or acetate on your card

I have adhered a serviette onto white card stock to create the background. I then cut a piece of acetate to size, I then stamped the Stampendous image with stazon ink. Once it dried I attached it over the serviette with brads before adding it to the base card.

A little bunny turns one

Today I have made this card for the challenge on CCEE Stampers blog.

Include a number or numbers on your creations this week. You can make an aged birthday card; number themed designer paper, number themed embossing folders or dies. Anything goes as long as there is a number somewhere!

I had a request for a 1st birthday card, it had to themed pink with a bunny. I found this DCWV designer paper stack in my stash.

I then made the scene inside using the Karen Burniston dies, for the layout I basically just followed the one on the packet.

I then added the Happy Birthday sentiment die cut.

One the front of the card I just used some of the elements that I used inside.

Here is a closer look at the inside pop up up.

Supplies:
Karen Burniston dies - 1079 - oval frames pop up, 1031 - numbers, 1074 - spring animals, 1006 - Nature edges, 1030 - Happy Birthday

Magic Garden

This week on CCEE Stampers blog our challenge is to create a mini slimline card.

Just like Slimline Cards, Mini Slimline Cards are also becoming very popular, for our challenge this week create a Mini Slimline card. Typically Mini Slim Line Cards are either 3 1/2 inches x 6 inches or 3 inches x 6 inches.

I started my card with the background making it with distress oxide inks. Using Twisted Citron, Rustic Wilderness and Squeezed Lemonade ink on the glass mat, I blended the inks and heat set them. I then used the Lavinia stencil Laurel and added lightly the chipped sapphire ink. I then added Mooch the cat with heat embossing. and added the Fairy Lantern and fairy. I then added the orchard grass along the edges and sponged chipped sapphire to the edges.

White Gold and Ivory Presents

Today's card is made for the challenge on crazy4challenges blog.

Create a project using only white, ivory and gold. Sounds intimidating? Use different textures and finishes of paper to make your layers stand out. I like to use glitter and metallic papers with texture from stenciling with pastes and embossing folders.

I had this pack of designer paper with gold foil spots in my stash. It looks rather busy but I don't mind I added the gold Happy Birthday with a white shadow and presents to the front.

On the inside I created the pop - up presents using the gift pivot panel die set from Karen Burniston.

Music inspiration

It is time to join the team on Crazy4Challenge for their challenge C4C604.

Be inspired by your favourite song to create your project. Please be sure to list the song with your entry. You can be inspired by the title, the lyrics, the overall theme or genre of the song.

My chosen song is Cover me in Sunshine by Pink and Willow. It is such a lovely song and they seem to have so much fun making the film clip.

I created my card with the Lavinia stamps Fairy having music fun in the sunshine.
