Starry Night

Welcome to the last challenge for March on the CCEE stampers blog.

March 30 is the birthday of Vincent Van Gogh. Today he would be 164 years old! Let the lyrics of Don McLean's time-honored classic, "Vincent," inspire your design today. Don McLean wrote this song in 1971 after reading a book about the artist's life.

Vincent

by Don McLean

Starry, starry night
Paint your palette blue and gray
Look out on a summer's day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills
Sketch the trees and the daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy linen land

Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
How you suffered for your sanity
How you tried to set them free
They did not listen,
They did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now

Starry, starry night
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze
Swirling clouds in violet haze
Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue
Colors changing hue
Morning fields of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand

I chose the first lines of the song Starry, starry night , Paint your palette blue and gray. but it also relates to some lines in the last verse. Swirling clouds in violet haze, Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue.

I used distressed inks for the backgrounds and some die cut trees in black card, I then added some Crystal Stickles to the trees.

From owl of us

Welcome to this weeks challenge with the Crazies team.
With Frances issuing the last challenge for March.
Yesterday was my birthday, as most of you know one of my favourite things are owls... so for our challenge this week include an owl on your card. If you don't have an owl no problem, any feathered creature will do.

I recently purchased some Art Impression stamps on sale, just in time for this challenge. It has been some time since I made a popup using Karen Burniston designed dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs
and on the front I have used the stitched fishtail dies.

Best Friends

Welcome to this weeks CCEE team challenge.

Can anyone resist the cuteness of a puppy, man's best friend? In honor of National Puppy Week, find your cutest image a puppy and feature it on your card this week! Heck, you could even throw in two or three! I love puppies!

I wanted to use this sentiment but I couldn't get it to fit on the front, so I finished inside the card.

Supplies: Elizabeth Craft designs - circle dies, Stampavie stamp and Penny Black sentiment.

I have a dream

This week on Crazy for challenges Frances is our hostess for March.

According to the days of the year web site, Thursday 2nd March was world book day. For our challenge this week take your inspiration for making your card from a book.... adults or children's book whatever your prefer.

For my inspiration I used the story Tangled, a Disney take on Rapunzel. Even though it is a movie, it is also available in book form.

Supplies: Penny Black stamps and dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Pear Art

Welcome to this weeks challenge with the CCEE team, hostess Lynn has this months challenges.

In honor of "Old Stuff" Day, make a card or project making use of some of the earliest stamps in your collection, or make use of old supplies in your stash. A fabulous vintage image would also be great for this challenge!

Along time ago, before we had fancy designer paper, we had to create our own backgrounds with ink, this technique is called direct to paper, where I just lightly brushed the distressed ink pads over the paper. I have used one of my favourite dies to create a pull card.

The stamp I have used was in the early days of unmounted stamps where the rubber was not attached to wood and you had to purchase a mounting system, this one used the acrylic blocks and a Velcro strips and a loop piece that was attached to the back if the stamp with double sided tape.
