Remembering Pluto

Hi Crafting  Friends

Today on the CCEE Stampers blog Frances has the last challenge for the month.

According to the Days of the Year web site, yesterday 24th August was Pluto Demoted Day, this day marks the occasion in 2006 when Pluto was demoted from being a planet to a dwarf planet. For our challenge today, create a card that has a space theme.

I went stash diving into my designer papers for the background for this card. Because I wanted to show off the paper I made some simple elements using dies.

I have used the following Karen Burniston dies to create the interactive element.
1105 Rocket Pop - up
1109 Space Charms
1103 Enjoy the Ride

Penguin z fold

My card is for today's challenge on the CCEE Stampers blog.

Apparently August is Peach month and Monday 22nd August is National Peach Day, so for our challenge this week create a card that features one or more things that begin with the letter "P" .. A punched image; patterned paper; pansy; paint; person or a product that is from a company whose name starts with “P”.

I started this card by making the background using the northern lights background technique. Blending together distress oxide inks, mostly pink and purple with a little of green and blue. I then folded the base card into a z fold. Starting with a base card 12 x 12 scoring at 3 and 6 folding the front 1/2 back. Then adding the inked panels before adding the oval on the edge.

I die cut an oval in black card and added an oval of designer paper of pink and purple snowflakes.

I the added the penguin to the oval panel, stamping it twice, once to fussy cut and colour and the other for the shadow. I then added the oval inside as a space to write a message.

Just a note with foil

My card today is for the challenge on CCEE Stampers blog, where hostess Frances asks us to try a technique.

A few months ago, Jennifer McGuire shared a technique using embossing folders. Let’s give it a try. You can find Jennifer's tutorial here

I have used copper foil card stock for the base card and Couture creations - Drifting Endless embossing folder. I added distress inks to highlight the areas after sanding. I then used the same inks to colour a piece of card before die cutting the sentiment. I die cut a circle panel using Sunny Studios - fancy frames and the inlaid them together to create the background for the sentiment. I the added an extra sentiment from Mama Elephant - cherry blossom branch stamp set.

Butterfly Faceted Diamond Fold

It has been some time since I have shared a card, I have relocated and a lot of my supplies are still in storage boxes. While I have been waiting for the craft room to be made, I have been looking for cardmaking ideas. I friend recently shared a tutorial on a faceted diamond fold. I found several tutorials for folded cards that I will certainly try in the future.

This week on the CCEE Stampers blog our challenge is butterflies, I came across the die cut flowers and designer paper while I was unpacking.

Butterflies seem to be very popular right now, many companies have released products featuring them this year. Create a card that features one or more butterflies.

I started by creating the base card in peach, measured the fold and cut the designer paper to match.

I added the pre cut butterflies, since they were all white I coloured some in blue.

The card folds flat for postage and I added the sentiment inside. If you look closely you card see the piece of acetate that I have used to create the photo up effect.
