Very Merry Christmas

This week I caught up with friends and this is my card for the FGM Challenge ( Frances, Gai and Maryann)

Each month we have a shopping trip and last month we purchased Christmas supplies so our challenge was to make a Christmas card.

For the Front I used the outdoor edges die to make a snowbank and made a snow man with Stampendous create winter stamp set.

Inside I used the Karen Burniston designed Pop it ups sleigh gift card and the evergreen tree for Elizabeth Craft designs.
I have used printed designer paper for the background.

CCEE1538 Patriotic

For our Challenge on CCEE Stampers, Lois asks that we make a patriotic card or a card indicating out heritage.

I have used Stampendous and La la land stamps to create an Australian outback scene that could be seen near our local Air base.

Double pop up idea

It is Swap ideas on CCEE Stampers challenge day. We were asked to make a card using a technique you've learned and want to share.  Either describe the details of the technique or link to a tutorial on the web.

With so many dies out there I thought I would share the way I have combined two pop up dies created by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.
I am a great fan of the Lorna label pop up die whether it is as a single platform or a double pop up.
I thought if I like the double pop up why not use the Happy Birthday pop up die and the Lorna Label pop up die together. I may even try this with the new Merry Christmas pop up die.
 Here is what I did after die cutting the Happy Birthday die, I removed the die and while the card was still lined up on my big shot platform plates I lined up the Lorna Label lining up the nubs on the fold. I then lined up the top plate so that it just cut out the bottom part of the Lorna label and not the box part as it over lapped the area already cut from the Happy Birthday die.

I then decorated each panel with more dies and stamps, before attaching the pop up panel to the base card.

Adding the white parts to the pop up was as simple as die cutting them again and fussy cutting them and attaching.

For the front of the card I have used a sizzix die and .... with the inlaid die technique that I learnt earlier this year.

Word Play Challenge

 Today's challenge is a Word Play challenge.  Include on your card something that starts with each of the letters in CITY. Today's Challenge on CCEE Stampers is the first for Lois as hostess. Today's challenge is a Word Play challenge. Louis H. Sullivan (born Sept. 3, 1856), an architect credited with designing the first skyscraper. Please include on your card something that starts with each of the letters in CITY.

Well this was a bit of a challenge, finding 4 lettered items that all match to create a card was really hard.
Well here goes
C -  Chilly the Penguin, cold, christmas
I - icicles
T - trees
Y - yellow scarf

I used my favourite dies at the moment, Karen Burniston designed dies for Elizabeth craft designs

The Merry Christmas pop up is a new release die and you can see Karen's tutorial here. It will be much easier to follow than my explanation.
After making the pop up I added the trees, trimming them down to so that they fitted when the card was closed. I then made Chilly the Penguin and his girlfriend, today I am calling her Chelsea. I reversed the black and white colours so that they look like they have so warm winter coats on with all the accessories.  I added some snow flakes and the Icicle border is a Martha Stewart border punch.

An Elegant bow

CCEE Stampers Challenge day and hostess Frances says

"Apparently tomorrow is Bow Tie Day, so for our challenge this week let's include some sort of bow on our cards this week … it doesn't have to be a Bow Tie as long as it is a bow."

I recently purchased the small lacy bow die set from Tonic Studios.

I matched this lacy bow with a old embossing folder for the background and an even older wood mounted rubber stamp verse and some pearls for a bit of elegance.

When life gives you lemons

Another challenge on CCEE Stampers blog and hostess Frances finds the most interesting challenges.

According to the Days of the Year web site today is Lemonade Day …. Let's celebrate by creating cards that features lemonade in some way. If you don't have anything Lemon or lemon related feature some other kind of beverage.

It is also challenge week that I do with a couple of friends each month we get together and go shopping at our favourite craft store. Our challenge is to create a card using products that we all own, this month was the Tattered Lace half circle die. Using this die we each created a lever card, this design card has been around for years however this is the first one that I have made.

I only had one stamp set, this one from Penny Black that I wanted to use for this challenge, I was so happy that it could fit into the circle die.

 I found this fruit salad designer paper that I thought would work well in the center of this card. I used spellbinders speech bubbles and fussy cut the green layer.

Stylish Screen divider

This week on CCEE Stampers were are making screen dividers, Like hostess Frances this has been on my to do list for some time.

I love the detail on oriental screens and this is something that I have tried to capture.

I made the base card with punches and decorated each panels with stickers and dies.

On the first panel, a die cut vase with sticker flowers. I have used micro fine glitter on all the pieces.

National Golf Month

Welcome to a new hostess Frances for a month of Challenges on CCEE Stampers Blog.
Apparently this month is National Golf Month … so for our challenge this week let’s create a card which features some sort of sport. Bonus points if you create a Golf themed card. Oh and we might need to see the color green on your card too.
Well my friend Frances knows me so well, we all know my favourite colour is green and golf has been my game since I was encouraged to take up a sport in my teens, in fact I met my husband on the golf course and we have many touring golf holidays and plan to do many more when we retire.
This is the inspiration for my card, I fell in love the this cute house mouse many years ago when it all we had were wood mounted stamps. It is now available from Stampendous as a cling stamp.

Engaging Hearts

Today I am sharing with you a engagement card that I was asked to make, while looking for some inspiration I came across this photo tutorial by Fran Sabad on Elizabeth Craft Designs blog using the Katie pivot label and though it would work with the heart pivot die.

 I didn't want the hearts to float in the air, so I created a backing piece in between the card layers and then die cut the hearts again using the center piece to complete the space so it looks like a solid card.

Inside I used my go to engagement stamp from My favorite things and added some gold sticker strips. All the heart pieces are from Elizabeth Craft Designs Heart pivot card and the edges are from the Paris edges set.

Happy 40th Birthday

I was asked to make a special 40th Birthday card, the card had to include, Paris, Pink and Leopard print. What do you think did I tick all the boxes?

Using the Karen Burniston designed Accordion Rectangle die from Elizabeth Craft Designs. 

I cut 3 panels in black and 2 in leopard print. I used the outside part of the leopard print on page 1 and 3 and the center part on page 2. The 3 center panels were decorated with stamps, dies, flowers and gems.

The front of the card and page 2 has Flourish edges in pink, the flourish edges were made using double sided tape attached to the underneath side before die cutting.

 I die cut 2 Eiffel towers, embossed them and highlighted with white ink, glued them onto the 1st panel so you can see them from either side. The Eiffel tower on the front has added gems stones.

Here is the card all ready for postage.

The more I use this die the more I love it, you can create a wow card in the shortest amount of time. You can watch Karen's tutorial on the Accordion card on this video link.
