Acrylics and ink

Continuing Joanne's themes for CCEE Stampers.
"For today's challenge I want you to get out your inks and acrylics.  Create a background using only inks, no stamps or embossing folders.  Something acrylic should also be on your card.  You certainly may use stamps for your main panel and sentiment.  Only the background must be made without stamps or embossing folders."

For my background I used distressed inks with sponges, I am really happy with the colours but the stamped image blended into the background too much. On second thought I really should of embossed it so that it popped. But I couldn't waste it so plan B was to take a section and shape it to make it 3d. I then finished with some acrylic music embellishment.

I remember when I first started stamping over 15 years ago, I was told that there is never a mistake in creating a card. It is your creation sometimes you may not like plan A so go with plan B. Well sometimes I go with C,D,E and so on LOL.
Supplies
Ranger Tim Holtz Distressed inks- tea die, dried marigold, mustard seed, wild honey, antique linen, brushed corduroy, Butterfly Kisses stamps - Music print

Happy Birthday Kitty

Today I am playing with my Karen Bruniston designed dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs.
I had a special request to make a card using a kitty and this die was just waiting to be used.

Whiskers the cat set has 7 dies, a base die, a top layer and several other die components. I cut the base die in black card, the top die was cut in brown felt card for some texture, the other pieces were just cut from card. The eye pieces were place so that Whiskers looks like she/he is dreaming of those fish in the corner.
The Happy Birthday sentiment is a sticker made with a die and double sided addhesive paper.

For the base card I have used the rectangle pull die and designer paper.

The fish bones came from the props 4 set.

I had lots of fun making this card, whiskers was really easy to make and I can't wait to make one with Buster the dog.

Holly Jolly Flowers

Welcome to the CCEE Stampers Challenge.  For the month of May, Hostess Joanne has some interesting challenges this month, we are going to concentrate on tools and embellishments rather than themes.
The challenge for today is to use at least one embossing folder, brad, and a self-made flower on your card/project.

For my card  started with the embossing folder, once embossed I sanded the raised areas to reveal the white core. I die cut the flower petals and shaped them before adding the brad. Finishing the card with a die cut sentiment and gems stones.

Supplies:
Sizzix Poinsettia die, Cuttlebug Holly embossing folder, spellbinders dies, Hero Arts Holly Jolly stamp set, brads, gems.

Time to pop on over to CCEE Stampers and see what the others have created.

Have a great day

It is all in the stars

This week on CCEE Stampers, Hostess Frances has found another special day to Celebrate this time it is National Astronomy Day and our challenge was to use some stars.
I recently purchased Elizabeth Craft designs accordion star die and star buddies peel off stickers they are so cute I couldn't resist using all three.

For the first panel I used the Koala sticker with the micro fine glitter technique ( you can watch Els's technique on utube here). also star edges die and the Happy Birthday die is from Memory Box.

Page two has the owl with the fancy edges and page three has the monkey and the star edges again.

On the last page I used the smaller star die and the birthday message. I also used the cut out stars from the edge die as embellishments.

CCEE1517 - Hug an Australian Day

It is Challenge time with my friends on CCEE Stampers and this is the Challenge hostess Frances gave us.
Apparently the 26th April is Hug an Australian Day who knew and I am Australian LOL.  If you don't know any Aussies close by you can hug me, we might need to rely on virtual hugs haha! {{{{hugs}}}}. For our challenge this week use a cute critter that you think would be huggable … Bonus points if you use an animal native to Australia.

Now being Australian my self of course I have a few Aussie animal stamps, but I really like these two from La la Land Crafts.
I created a pop up card using the Lorna Label die and I made a Eucalyptus Gum tree with the all seasons die and the curvy leaves die was trimmed to look more like the Eucalyptus leaf.

Here is a close up of Kangaroo Marci and Koala Luka. Because Marci was attached to the front pop up part and she was rather tall I added a piece of card folded into a square behind her as a hinge for more stability, it moves with Marci as you close the card.

On the front I placed another Gum tree and some mountains for a outback scenery feeling.

Supplies
Stamps-    La la Land Crafts
Dies: Elizabeth Craft Designs, Lorna Label, All seasons tree, curvy leaves, Katie Label, Beach edges

I hope you like my card.
If you would like to play don't forget to go over to CCEE Stampers blog and see what the other have made and add your card.

Karen Burniston April Designer Challenge day 1

Hello Everyone
Designer Karen Burniston asked her design team members to invite a guest for the April Designer Challenge - Accordions with DC team and Friends.

I am very excited to announce that I was chosen by Frances Byrne to be her guest. I have admired all the design teams creations and it is a great honor to be part of Karen's team and use her wonderful designed products.

For my card I have made a four page album which tells a story. Sometimes you find some stamps that really go well together and just can't fit them on a normal card so it is great to be able to use this Accordion die to make an album.
This card reminds me so much of my Daughter and her Friend who after their shopping trips they always come home with shoes.

Firstly I cut the accordion base twice in purple and twice in black, I then used the Katie flourish frame edges in the same colours.

Here is a close up of the front page, on the bottom edge I have added paris edges and gems stones.

On Page 2 and 3 I have added shoes with Elizabeth Craft Designs peel off stickers made with double sided adhesive and silk mircofine glitter. You can see a video with Els teaching this technique here.

On the last page I have added the matching purse.

Supplies:
Elizabeth craft designs - Accordion Rectangle, Katie flourish frame edges, Paris edges
Peel off stickers shoes & bags, silk mircofine glitter, double sided adhesive
foam dots, copic pens, gems
MSE stamps, Riley & Company funny bones stamps

On Tuesday Frances will post her card and don't forget to check out the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog on Wednesday when you will be able to see what all the designers created for the challenge this month, plus an amazing card/video tutorial from Karen Burniston.

Out for a run

Hi Everyone,
Time for another CCEE Sampers challenge and a new  Month means a new Hostess and this month our hostess is Frances.
Yesterday was April Fools Day and apparently this month is also National Humor Month. In honor of both these events let's include some Humor in our cards using either a funny sentiment, a humorous image or both.

When I went shopping the other day I came across this Art Impressions set. then as I kept looking I saw this from Verses Lots of laughs. As it made me laugh, I thought they would go well together, although I have no idea if I could give this card to anybody.

This is the first time I have used the spellbinders Die D-Lites speech bubble, I also used the cloud speech bubble as a stencil for the clouds.
