Wish upon a star

Today was club day, the weather was such a shocker so it was great to stay inside out of the rain and wind. Todays project was a Hinge card.

I found this great star designer paper sometime ago, it inspired me to buy the in the stars set from stampin up, it has just been waiting for the right project.
I started by cutting the cream base card 14.8 x 10.5cm, the red card measures 8 x 10.5, DP 8 x 10.5, black card 9.4 x 10.5 the edge was then punched with a border punch. I joined the DP and black card with tape and attached this to the cream card, leaving enough space at the top so that the red card slides underneath and overlapping approximately 3cm. Attach all 3 pieces of card with a brad so that the top piece swings to reveal the hidden verse.
The small piece of cream card was stamp with red and black ink and layered, the star was stamped and punched out and popped out with foam tape. Foam tape was attached to the top 2/3rds then the whole piece of card was placed over the overlapping cards, so that the foam tape acts like a stopper for the hinge. I then layered to whole card onto black card stock, this is an optional extra but I think it just finishes the card off.
Supplies:
Stamps: In the stars - Stampin up
Paper: Black, very vanilla, real red - stampin up, DP - scenic route paper
Other: Black ink, Red ink, brad, Eyelet border punch, ds & foam tape, star punch.

Soccer Star

I made this card for My Daughters friend who just turned 18, and I must say that it was quite a challenge. I had to make a card that was not a girly card and I had to use soccer balls on it, as Kiki is soccer crazy. I think I did rather well.
Firstly I sent a SOS to a friend as I did not have any soccer stamps, she sent me some links for clip art. Thanks Frances
I chose this little soccer ball and printed it so I had 9 images, I found the what a star ribbon in my supplies and paired it with black grosgrain ribbon. The stars were made with my nestibilities and I used rub ons for the number 18. The circle behind the stars was cut with my circle nestibilities and put through the Argyle Cuttlebug embossing folder. I then used my sponging block to apply black ink to the raised areas. To finish the card I added brads and paper piercing.
Supplies: White and Black card, black ink, cuttlebug eb folder, nestabilities, ribbons, brads, paper piercing tool and mat, clip art, rub ons, sponging block.
