Happy New Year

Well another year is nearly over, it seems these days that the years are just going by faster & faster. Is it really 10 years ago when they said that we would not survive the 2000 bug, well we survived and have done many things since.
I hope that everyone has a safe and happy new year celebration.
We aren't really party people so celebrations are very low key for us. Dinner at the MIL, off to see the 9.30pm fireworks and maybe seeing in the new year chatting to friends online.
Today for something different I thought I would share two cards. The first one is for the sketch challenge on SCS, SC260
Stamps: The cats Pajamas, Sentiment- studio G

Hey Miss Anya

This Anya is so cute. Can you just imagine her dancing in the 1920's in this flapper dress. For the background designer paper I use a page out of DCWV creme stack, the black is done in felt it adds a beautiful texture to the card. To top it off I added flower soft to the feather and the layers in the dress.

AArrhhhhh Missy

Hi,
I hope every one had a fabulous Christmas, we certainly did. It is rather quiet when all the girls grown up and we actually get up first. Nana( DH's Mother) arrived about 9am and we opened presents, after that DD went to Xmas lunch at her boyfriends. Grandma (My Mum) arrived at 11.30 and we had a nice roast lunch just the 4 of us. My family ( sisters & BIL's, nieces, nephews, partners and Kids) started arriving at 2pm, for afternoon festivities in the pool. My Daughter rang from Florida at 1am over there, 4pm here, she had just opened the presents we sent her and we passed the phone around so she could speak to every-one. hMmm can't wait until she is home again.
I managed to get some stamping done in between the visitors, today's card is for day 5 of the 12 days of sketches from the Greeting Farm I really like the way that this card has turned out, what girl wouldn't like a pink and black card. What do you think?

Flower Suzi

On the 4th day of sketches TGF gave me, this sketch of course. LOL The first time I saw this stamp I could just see the fluffy flowers on the ruffles, I used to have a jacket like this many years ago. I have been practicing colouring in the hair with my copics, I don't think I have the right paper as they tend to bleed a bit, but that does make it easy to blend.

Today I was getting together some things to send to my Daughter in America, I don't usually make her a Christmas card as she lives at home, but I thought she might like this one. Although it is winter in Florida I don't think she is having snow, pretty much the same as when she is here in winter as we never have snow.
I just love these cute Penny Black stamps, they are so easy to colour. This card is made for challenges on the Pink Elephant blog Challenge #45 and Kaboodle Blog challenge #19 & #20

Hello
While the cats away the mice will play. LOL DH is away fishing so I have lots of time to stamp, it is like having a holiday right here. I am having so much fun.
There are many ways to use acetate, from using it as the main card to a window. I saw this tutorial in August on Dawn blog, it was so different I thought I would give it a try, you would not believe how easy it is.
I used the same designer paper for both cards, but depending on the layering colours the different background colour just pop out.

Princess Anya

Hello there,
I am so happy my first ever My Greeting Farm stamps have arrived. Yeahhh!!! I chose Princess Anya for my first card. It was Club last week and our project was to make a Easel card, I love doing projects especially when Frances is there for instructions when you get stuck. Easel cards are very popular at the moment if you look at various blogs you will certainly see one. The card is folded into a z fold with the card front attached inside you attach an embellishment or die cut a verse and attach with foam tape like I did. This helps the card stand up.

Wedding Day Iris

The wedding was on Saturday and it was beautiful, everything went smoothly the tiny bridal party members 4,2 and 6mths were so well behaved even in our terrible heat.
My Daughter was so excited that she received her own invitation ( not just her name tacked onto Mum and Dads invitation, but one for her and her boyfriend) that she wanted to make her own card, her passion is iris folding, but after making the Heart she was stuck so it was Mum to the rescue, after some discussion we decided to stick with the heart and red and white theme so while she was at work I created.
Stamps: Fiskars - Romance clear stamp set
Paper: Holographic wrapping paper, red & white card
Other: Ribbon, cuttlebug embossing folder- hearts, scallop punch, heart embellishment.

Here comes the Bride

Today is my Niece's wedding and this is what I made for her. They have been together for 5 years so wanted a wishing well. Earlier this month I saw the instructions for a gift card holder on the Rubber Romance Blog with a slight change I turned into a card to hold money. I have had this stamp for many years just waiting to be inked up. I chose the black, red & white theme because that was the colours used for the invitation, the invite also had some diamante bling on it. I haven't any idea of the wedding colours.

Come on Baby

Today I have another new purchase to share with you the cuttle bug embossing folder 'Stars', I saw this used on a card sometime ago and I just needed it. LOL After embossing my card I highlighted the stars with chocolate ink, using my sponging block. The large star was cut using nestibilities template and also sponged. I used several stamps from The Cat's Pajamas, Havin' a pow wow set masking as I went and colouring with copics. All die cut stars were attached with foam tape. Star brads were attached to the bottom row. I made this card for my daughter to give to her boyfriend, "Happy Birthday Adam" I hope you like it.

spinning penguin

I have been wanting to do this type of card for a long time, I am not really that happy with it I think I need to play with it a bit more. I punched my circle a little too low and had trouble attaching the string, but I think you should get the idea. I cut the circle out on my top card and then put it in the embossing folder, it was then sponged with blue ink so that the snowflakes pop. I made two images the same and glued them together with the string inside, this was then attached to fit in with the other cut circles, so when you hold the card up the image spins. To frame the saying I used my new frame die cut. You can find a tutorial for this card on splitcoast stampers it is called a suspension card.

Matt's Wallet

Hi there,
At last I have finally managed to get to post on my blog. Where has a month gone, this time last month my Hubby were busy packing the caravan to do the gray nomad thing ( without the gray hair anyway) We had a great time playing 7 different golf courses in Northern NSW. Back home and its one day to unpack before its back to work.
Then is oh no!!!! I need a teenage/young adult boy birthday card, thank god for the internet, making male card is not a favourite of mine. Lucky I found some samples on splitcoast stampers, I decided to go with the wallet card some other cards can be found here.
I looked at my husbands wallet to get the measurements and cut chocolate chip card to size.
I used the cuttlebug embossing folder to give close to cocoa the look of snakeskin, I then used a sponging block to highlight the raised areas with chocolate ink. I rounded the corners with my scissors because I couldn't find my corner punch. Just add brads and a stamped image and the card is ready for money and a hidden message.

Stamps: Hanna stamps
Paper: Stampin up: chocolate chip, close to cocoa, very vanilla
Other: brads, sponging block, ribbbon

Happy Fathers Day

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads in Australia.
I think my Hubby had a good day, our daughter remembered and rang from America, they celebrated fathers day earlier this year over there.
We spent the day, with the first of many BBQs' that we will have over the summer, my dear hubby loves his outdoor cooking appliance. What better stamp set to use, than Who's that grilling guy? from MFT. This is the first time I have used this set, so not only did I make a card for my Girl's father, I also made one for my youngest daughter's boyfriend's father. This is the card that Kait chose for her Dad.
It was fairly simple to make, except I couldn't get my steak to look real enough, in the end I inked it in red ink and then re-inked in chocolate chip and coloured the bone with my copics. I paper pieced the apron and coloured the image with my copics. I went I little way back into the files at SCS to find the master list of past sketches and used MFTSC31.
This is the card that she chose for Adam's Dad. The closest I could get to this sketch is MFTSC89, I made this card at 4am this morning and wasn't really following any sketches. I had so many things on my mind and couldn't sleep, thought I would try to relax with some stamping, and was pretty happy with the way they turned out.
Stamps: MFT- Who's that grilling guy?
Paper: Black, red, white cs, stock dp.
Other: nestibilites, copics, scallop & oval punch SU, cuttlebug folder tiny mosaic, paper piercing mat & tool, brads, ribbon - SU, ds tape.

Have a great day.

It's a jungle out there

Today's card was made for MFTMFC13 on scs, for this challenge we had to use new stamps that had not seen any ink. This was easy to do as I have a few of them, the particular set I have used I have been saving for just the right DP. I purchase the ribbon some time ago, thinking it looked just like a zebra. The other day a shopping I found this paper stack at my local Kmart store, it was just perfect. It has several rows of zebras with one row in foil.
